Standing Up for Social Care: Our Public Affairs Work

Our public affairs team and Executive represent the voices of our colleagues and the people we support directly to government, ensuring social care’s priorities are heard at the highest levels. 

We regularly meet with ministers, MPs, local authority representatives and policymakers, respond to consultations and select committee inquiries, and take part in party conferences and sector events. Through this work, we build relationships across the political spectrum and keep social care on the agenda.

Fair pay and recognition

for the social care workforce, including full and sustainable funding for the Fair Pay Agreement

Long-term, sustainable funding

for social care that reaches providers in full and on time

Workforce development

including clear career pathways and progression for care staff

Safety and dignity

for people who draw on care and support, and the colleagues who deliver it

Why this matters

Decisions about social care shape people’s lives, from the quality and consistency of support, to the pay, recognition and conditions of the colleagues who deliver it. That is why we work proactively with ministers, MPs, local leaders and policymakers across England and Scotland, sharing real experiences from our services so that social care is understood before decisions are made, not only after they are announced.
