Applying for a job with us - How we can support you through the process
We are really pleased that you are thinking about joining us.
We want to make sure that applying for a job with us is easy and fair for everyone.
We know that people are different. Some people need a little extra support to show what they can do. That is completely fine with us.
This guide explains how we can help you at each stage of applying.
The most important thing to know:
If you need any support at any point, just tell us. We will do our best to help you. You will not be treated any differently for asking.
When you apply
When you fill in your application, we will ask you this question:
“Do you need any adjustments, accommodations or support to help you with our recruitment process?”
You can say yes and tell us what would help. Or you can tell us later – that is fine too.
Ways we can help you when you apply
- We can send you the form in a different format, such as bigger text or a different colour background
- If you need support filling in the form, someone can help you with it or you can tell us about yourself in another way
- We can give you more time to fill in the form
- We can keep in touch with you by email, letter or phone – whichever is easiest for you
If you are invited to an interview
Well done! If we invite you to an interview, we want it to go as well as possible for you.
- We can send you the interview questions before the day so you have time to think about your answers
- We can give you extra time to answer each question
- We can arrange breaks during the interview if you need them
- We can choose a time that works best for you
- We will not expect you to do things that feel difficult, like lots of eye contact. Just be yourself.
- You can visit the interview venue before the day if that would help you feel more comfortable
If there is a task or test
Sometimes we ask people to do a short task or test as part of the process. We can make this easier for you.
- You can write your answers, speak them out loud, or do them in another way
- We can give you more time for any tasks
- We can support you to use helpful technology, such as tools that read text out loud
- We can give you clear, simple instructions and break the task into smaller steps
The room and the environment
We want you to feel comfortable wherever we meet.
- We can find a quiet room if you find noise difficult
- We can adjust the lighting to make it more comfortable
- All our interview venues are accessible. Please let us know if you have any specific access needs.
How to tell us what you need
You can tell us what support you need at any time:
- In the application form, when we ask about adjustments
- By replying to any of our emails
- By calling us before your interview
It is never too late to ask. We will always do our best to help.
Our commitment to you
Community Integrated Care is part of the Disability Confident Scheme. This means:
- We are committed to making our recruitment process open and accessible to everyone
- If you have a disability and you meet the basic requirements for the job, we will always offer you an interview
- We actively encourage disabled people to apply
We believe that everyone deserves the chance to show what they can do. We are here to support you every step of the way.
