Unfair To Care Shortlisted for National Award
Community Integrated Care is proud to announce that our Unfair To Care campaign has been shortlisted for the prestigious Dame Esther Rantzen Campaigning for Change Award at the Markel Third Sector Care Awards.
The awards, organised by Care Management Matters (CMM), celebrate excellence, innovation and dedication across the not‑for‑profit care sector. Now in their twelfth year, they recognise organisations and individuals who are striving to improve the lives of people who access care and support.
First launched in July 2021, our Unfair To Care campaign provided an unprecedented independent job evaluation of the frontline Support Worker role, revealing that social care professionals are undervalued by up to 39% compared to roles of equivalent skill and responsibility in other public‑funded sectors.
Since then, we’ve released three further editions over the years, providing updated data and continuing to grow in scope, evidence and national impact. The third edition of the campaign was even launched to MPs, social care colleagues and sector leaders in Parliament, in 2023.
Being shortlisted for this recognition comes at a pivotal moment for our charity, as we prepare to launch the next edition of Unfair To Care in the months ahead – an expansion that will offer fresh insights and new recommendations as the health and social care landscape continues to evolve.
Danielle Chan, Director of Communications and Engagement at Community Integrated Care, said, “We’re delighted that Unfair To Care has been shortlisted for the Campaigning for Change Award. This campaign represents our commitment to standing up for the social care workforce, challenging misconceptions and calling for fair recognition for the vital work that frontline care workers do every single day.”
“With each edition, the campaign has grown in strength and influence. From parliamentary launches to national media coverage, Unfair To Care has helped put the realities of social care work at the forefront of public debate. As we prepare to release our next report, this shortlisting reinforces just how important it is that we continue advocating for change at every level.”
