Why Digital Inclusion Matters

The digital divide has a profound impact on health, opportunity, and independence:

  • 50% of adults classified as ‘non-internet users’ have a disability
  • 32% of people with a learning disability lack basic digital skills
  • Less than 5% of people with a learning disability are in paid employment
  • People with learning disabilities die 19–23 years younger than the general population, with 42% of deaths from avoidable causes

In partnership with Okta, the global leader in secure identity management, we’ve created award-winning programmes that promote digital safety and inclusion. Named Best Business Initiative at the Caring Times Awards, this work includes a dedicated digital skills programme for social care workers, workshops that build confidence and protect people online, and an incredible array of digital enablement experiences.

Championing inclusion on What-To-Do.co.uk

What To Do is Community Integrated Care’s groundbreaking digital platform—created to bring free, live, and inclusive experiences to people who draw on social care. From Broadway stars and Strictly dancers to wellbeing workshops, music sessions, and creative classes, it offers a vibrant weekly schedule of events that inspire, educate, and connect. This vibrant community is tackling isolation, building digital confidence, and unlocking new passions.

Empowering Everyday Digital Skills

We use digital tools to support essential life skills and independence:

  • Democratic participation – understanding voting rights and civic engagement
  • Personal safety – navigating the online world securely
  • Creativity and expression – from digital storytelling to music production
  • Employment readiness – building confidence and digital literacy for work
  • Developing new talents – such as our groundbreaking www.CareToCook.co.uk cookery programme.

These projects are scalable, inclusive, and co-produced with the people we support—ensuring they meet real needs and deliver lasting impact.
