Unfair To Care shortlisted for Third Sector Care Award

Community Integrated Care’s ground-breaking Unfair to Care report has been shortlisted for a prestigious accolade at this year’s Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards.

Organised by care sector publication, Care Management Matters, and developed in conjunction with the National Care Forum, the awards are designed to celebrate the hard work, dedication and excellence of those working in the not-for-profit sector who are making a positive difference to people’s lives.

After gaining national attention from key political figures and praise from the wider care sector, our charity’s landmark Unfair to Care report, and the media work undertaken by our charity over the past 18 months, has been recognised and shortlisted for the Campaigning for Change Award.

The report, launched in July last year, produces the first-ever independent analysis of the frontline Support Worker role and provides in-depth evidence that frontline carers receive an unjust deal in comparison to their peers in equivalent positions in other public funded sectors.

At the event, our charity’s pioneering ‘What To Do’ website has also been shortlisted for the Technology Award, the accolade celebrates an organisation that has used technology in an innovative and person-centred way to enhance the life of an individual or a group of people.

Launched in September 2021, ‘What To Do’ is a unique online hub that offers free accessible activities every day, specially designed for people with care and support needs, in partnership with leading sports, cultural and community groups.

The response to our charity’s Unfair To Care report has been incredible so far, so to see this piece of work recognised as this prestigious event is another incredible achievement. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all of those who have contributed to our charity’s campaign so far, from our frontline teams to our partners from within the sector, who have all joined us in our fight for improved reward and recognition for our workforce.”

He continued, “It’s also brilliant to see our fantastic ‘What To Do’ website recognised for bringing value to both the people we support, and many more with support needs, by enabling them to explore new experiences every day. We’d like to thank our partners at the NHS and Sport England, who have provided invaluable support to make this innovative platform possible.”

Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony at the Grand Hotel in Birmingham on the Friday 4th March 2022
