Trustees visit our services in Scotland!

Community Integrated Care’s services in Scotland welcomed not one but two special guests yesterday (Thursday 27th February), as two members of our Board of Trustees visited colleagues and people supported in the region.

With the recent relaxing of restrictions, Wallace Dobbin and Simon Learoyd, two of our charity’s Scotland-based Trustees, were keen to get back on the road and witness the inspiring work in our services first-hand.

Wallace Dobbin, who joined our charity’s Board of Trustees in 2021, enjoyed a trip to our Tytler Gardens service in Edinburgh, where he met with the people we support and our frontline colleagues for the very first time. After a tour of the service, he had a chance to catch up with the team, speaking with Support Worker, Shirley Reynolds, and Service Leader, Chris Fitzsimmons, about their experience throughout the Coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking about his visit, Wallace said: “It’s been an absolutely inspiring day. What our colleagues are doing here is simply amazing. It’s been a wonderful experience to actually come and see first-hand what happens in our services, and so moving to hear their stories and find out more about the impact of Coronavirus. It was such a privilege to visit.”

Trustee visits Dollar Service

Meanwhile, Trustee Simon Learoyd headed to the Clackmannanshire area, where he was able to visit some of our newest services in the region, alongside Community Integrated Care’s Scotland Managing Director, Allison Cochrane.

The trip included a visit to our newly-refurbished Station Road service in Dollar, which opened in December last year. Formerly a care home, the service now houses four modern apartments to support people with learning disabilities to live independently in their own homes.

Allison Cochrane, said: “It was a real honour for us to welcome Wallace and Simon, and I’d like to thank them for taking the time to visit our services in Scotland.

We always welcome the opportunity to showcase the incredible work of our colleagues and it was lovely to receive recognition and praise from our Trustees, especially for our brand-new services in Clackmannanshire.”
