Celebrating International Women’s Day 2022

Today (Tuesday 8th March 2022) marks International Women’s Day – a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. At Community Integrated Care, we were proud to mark this day by celebrating the many incredible women throughout our charity!

This year’s theme, #BreakTheBias calls for the celebration of women’s achievement, raising awareness against bias, and taking action for equality.

Inspired by these aims, we led an exciting campaign of activities, kicking off with a charity-first all-female takeover of our company-wide webinar. Our Chief People Officer, Teresa Exelby, Chief Operating Officer, Karen Sheridan, and our Chairperson, Libby Raper took to the screen at 11am to celebrate International Women’s Day with all our colleagues and share the latest updates from across our charity!

Members of our Executive Team also took to camera throughout the day to share their thoughts, experiences and advice on breaking bias within the workplace, to inspire the next generation of female leaders.

Candice York, Managing Director for Central, said, “It’s important that we have more women in leadership roles because they provide something for other women to aspire to. I think it’s only when we see people in a leadership position that look like us that we start to see ourselves there too.”

Our wellbeing partners, Everymind at Work, joined us in recognising the day, delivering a special webinar for our colleagues on the topic of Self-Esteem. With research conducted by ‘My Confidence Matters’, finding that over 79% of women said that lack of confidence in their own abilities was a main obstacle for progressing within their role*, the webinar challenged these perceptions and inspired confidence.

Across our social media channels, we shone the spotlight on some of our amazing female colleagues and people we support whose stories have inspired us over the last 12 months. Head over to our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages to see what we’ve been up to!

Our colleagues have also been sharing their appreciation on our charity’s internal platform – Yammer – nominating inspirational colleagues in a chain of posts, highlighting fabulous females and what makes them so special.

We’d like to thank everyone for joining us in celebrating International Women’s Day, recognising the outstanding women across our charity and raising awareness against bias!
