Meet our Finalists…
Meaningful Activity Award – Mandy Kennedy
Carlingwark’s talented Activity Coordinator, Mandy Kennedy, has taken Carlingwark’s activity programme to a whole new level this year, introducing innovative technology sessions and creating a stunning sensory garden and grow-your-own veg garden. Mandy has been commended for creating exciting, person-centred activities that have helped enhance the lives of people supported at Carlingwark.
Manager/Leader Award – Shirley McTeir
Shirly McTeir is a dedicated, innovative and compassionate leader. In her five years at Carlingwark, Shirley has implemented an award-winning model of continence care, was one of the first adopters of Playlist for Life – an initiative where people with dementia can connect to memories through music, and supported her staff to be ambitious and creative – seeing them win several national awards.
Mandy Kennedy’s digital activity programme has been recognised in another award category! Mandy recently secured funds for the home to provide residents with IT equipment. Now every person supported at Carlingwark can use the internet, with an incredible 50% of residents using it every single day to speak to family members, reminisce and enjoy online experiences.
